In a 2010 study, "Agile Development: Mainstream Adoption Has Changed Agility," Forrester Research reported that roughly 63% of respondents had more than 20 members on a team. Conversely, many of the Agile books and early Agile success stories promote an ideal team size of five to nine people.  It goes without saying that projects with large teams are riskier, on multiple fronts, but how does an organization contain that risk and still be agile?  The Scaled Agile Framework was created for this purpose.  It provides a flexible framework for scaling up Agile development to teams far north of 20 team members.  Alan will give an overview of the SAFe version 2.5 and discuss his personal experiences implementing SAFe with a large health insurer.
